St George’s Cathedral Art is a springboard for young artists, bringing a fascinating insight into the lives and minds of a new generation.
So many schools are keen to participate in St George’s Cathedral Art that the maximum number of artworks per school is limited to three, ensuring the highest quality works from the state’s top young talent. Many will go on to display their work at the prestigious Pulse Perspectives (formerly Year 12 Perspectives) at the Art Gallery of WA.
This year, more works than ever will be on display, so allow plenty of time to browse the Cathedral aisles and visit the State Buildings opposite for refreshments. The Cathedral’s famous chairs will be moved to make way for artworks by more than 170 art students aged 14 to 18, from 61 schools.
Entry is by gold coin donation; purchase a souvenir catalogue for $15.00 to add your vote for the People’s Choice prize, sponsored by the State Buildings and awarded at the close of the exhibition. Janet Holmes à Court AC is generously providing the $500 prize for the overall winner, and four category winners will receive $200 each. A list of Highly Commended artists will receive gifts from Jacksons Drawing Supplies.
St George’s Cathedral Art is open to all WA senior high students at no charge, thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and donors, to whom we are most grateful.
